Under regular jockey Dougie Costello, BTF finished 2nd in the 630 handicap at Chelmsford Racecourse, the 3rd time he has finished 2nd in the 3 runs he has ran there.
Again, he is a fast finishing 2nd, arguably a little unlucky and Dougie says with some confidence, that the same race at Lingfield or Kempton sees him win by 2 lengths or more.
The track does favour horses ridden prominently, and BTF was the only horse that managed to come from the back as he rattled home in great style. The surface was a little loose (you can actually see the amount of sand being kicked up in the pic above, kindly supplied by Lena Hartl), and BTF has never been a huge fan of kick back. This made it tricky to get him into a closer position when the horses were bunched, but once they fanned out he took off.
Initial ratings from the experts have rated that performance right alongside his last win, showing that he is in terrific form still and would appear to have more improvement to come.
There are a lot of examples of Dark Angel progengy who continue to improve as 5 yr olds; Meccas Angel, Sovereign Debt, Heavens Guest and Ardhoomey are all examples of Dark Angel off-spring who continued to race, win and improve beyond their 4 yr old year.
Jamie reports he is in great form this morning, and we will be looking at options over the next 24 hours. There is a possible option back at Chelmsford next weekend, but we need to consider the pros and cons.

Crowd Racing is one of the UK’s most innovative Racehorse Ownership and Experience companies.
We offer ownership shares in racehorses and racehorse ownership experiences in the UK and Europe, via our "Crowds".
By joining a Crowd, you will become a registered owner of that racehorse for a fixed period of time, for a fixed cost. At the end of the period, you will get to vote on whether we keep the horse(s) but you will never be committed to remaining as part of that Crowd, irrespective of the vote result.
Crowd Racing offers various ownership packages on a transparent, one-off cost basis with no hidden charges.
Depending on the level of package purchased, share owners received a variety of racehorse owner benefits; All owners are entitled to their pro-rata share of prize-money and re-sale of the horse at the end of the defined period.
We also offer a totally free to join Racing Club, The Crowd Racing Club.
Crowd Racing exists to make racehorse ownership accessible, informative, exhilarating, social and above all;
A whole lot of fun!
We have well over 300 owners involved in Crowd Racing, and many of them are involved in multiple horses. Our customers retention levels are above 90%, so we know we are doing a lot right, but we are constantly looking to improve.
We embrace new technology to find better and more innovative ways to communicate and deliver better for our owners, and we thrive on listening to the feedback of those that matter the most;
Our Customers - Our Owners. The Crowd.
While we will always strive to buy racehorses for our owners which will win races and increase in value, the costs involved in training and running a racehorse plus the relatively low levels of prize money in the UK, make showing an upside on the initial investment made by owners very difficult and somewhat rare.
Shares bought in horses via Crowd Racing, should always be viewed as a social investment with no expectation of any financial upside. We can guarantee you will love being involved and have some wonderful experiences but we cannot guarantee you will make money.
