Neil Mulholland is based just outside Bath, at Stoke Limpley in Conkwell Grange Stables, and trains The Detainee on behalf of Crowd Racing.
A superb trainer, with great results on both the flat and over jumps, Neil managed to get The Detainee to win his first run for the yard at Chepstow over 1m4f. The first race TD won, in his 12 races and with definite signs that there are more to come.
Crowd Racing are delighted to have The Detainee with Neil and the team at Conkwell Grange, and we look forward to the day when we can add further racehorses into the stable.
Born in 1980 Neil Mulholland was brought up surrounded by a family that loved horses. His father Brian always had a horse in training and he loved to breed with his own mares to try and find that big race winner we are all looking for. Neil had a pony from my first memories, it was in his blood.
At the age of 11 years old Neil started to ride out for Ian Duncan who was my local trainer based just a couple of miles away and at the age of 12 years old he wrote a secret letter to Aidan O’Brien who at the time was champion jumps trainer to ask him for some work experience. To his surprise, Aidan replied and Neil spent 6 years in total with him, the first 3 years part time when he was at school, the last 3 years full time to on his apprenticeship. Neil enjoyed every minute at Aidan’s and learned so much and it was there that he started his riding career and went on to ride about 120 winners, riding for a lot of great trainers on a lot of nice horses.
Neil was a journeyman jockey so had to work hard and ride for as many trainers as possible meaning he got to see a lot of different ways people train. In 2008 he took out his first trainer’s licence, with a brilliant first season, training 17 winners.
In the past 5 years, Neil Mulholland has gone from strength to strength with over 250 winners over jumps and 50 winners on the flat. There have also been a combined 300+ placed horses and over £2,250,000 in prize-money. A phenomenal return in such a short period of time and Neil is undoubtedly on the fastest rising stars in the UK training.
Stable stars such as Carole’s Destrier, Pilgrims Bay, Shantou Village, Druids Nephew and Southfield Royale all grace the yard and will the cornerstones of what promises to be another great season for the Mulholland team.
Neil Mulholland trains at Conkwell Grange, and it is undoubtedly a top class training facility, with everything

Crowd Racing offers various ownership packages on a transparent, one-off cost basis with no hidden charges.
Depending on the level of package purchased, share owners received a variety of racehorse owner benefits; All owners are entitled to their pro-rata share of prize-money and re-sale of the horse at the end of the defined period.
We also offer a totally free to join Racing Club, The Crowd Racing Club.
Crowd Racing exists to make racehorse ownership accessible, informative, exhilarating, social and above all;
A whole lot of fun!
We have well over 300 owners involved in Crowd Racing, and many of them are involved in multiple horses. Our customers retention levels are above 90%, so we know we are doing a lot right, but we are constantly looking to improve.
We embrace new technology to find better and more innovative ways to communicate and deliver better for our owners, and we thrive on listening to the feedback of those that matter the most;
Our Customers - Our Owners. The Crowd.
While we will always strive to buy racehorses for our owners which will win races and increase in value, the costs involved in training and running a racehorse plus the relatively low levels of prize money in the UK, make showing an upside on the initial investment made by owners very difficult and somewhat rare.
Shares bought in horses via Crowd Racing, should always be viewed as a social investment with no expectation of any financial upside. We can guarantee you will love being involved and have some wonderful experiences but we cannot guarantee you will make money.
